Team Camps
Team Camp - Skills The primary focus of the camp is proper technique. The camp is also designed to emphasize teamwork, competitive spirit, maximum effort, building confidence, and communication; but the primary focus is on proper technique. Proper technique helps ensure consistent results at higher levels of play. Athletes will receive quality technical instruction and a ton of repetitions. Skills are covered in depth during this camp. All the mechanical nuances for the basic skills are covered (hitting, passing - overhand and forearm (includes serve-receive and digging), serving, and blocking). The drills are progressively dynamic* in nature and meant to maximize results regardless of current skill level. * Progressively dynamic means the drills are designed to be more challenging as the athletes skill level improves. I highly recommend that the participants come to the camp in shape. Some drills are meant to develop skills and conditioning.
Team Camp - System Every coach knows there's more to the game than individual skills. It's one of the reasons this is an incredibly difficult game to master. If your team has a pretty good grasp on the individual skills but could use some help in the area of team play, this is the camp for you. At a System Camp, you can chose 1 of 3 options as your team focus: offense, defense, or transition. In Hawaii, we train at one of the highest levels in the nation. Our offensive system is incredibly quick and our defensive systems are unyielding. Insert the piece of the puzzle that ties the two systems together and you have the reason we consistently place among the nations best at the Junior Olympics. If your team has the fundamentals down but needs a little boost in one of the three areas mentioned above, please contact us.
Note to the Coach Prior to the athletes being developed, coaches get an opportunity to guide the direction of the camp. “Customize” the camp prior to its commencement by indicating team needs. No one knows your team better, so let’s put our heads together and make your team more successful. Camps are designed to accommodate 12 to 15 players. I can work with less than 12 athletes, but the drills are more efficient at 12 and higher. Because I travel alone, I can not accept more than 15 athletes at a given time. Also, please try to match player skill level or athletic ability. In other words, please schedule either a Varsity squad or a Junior Varsity squad for the camp. Please do not match skilled players with athletes that have never played before. There are obvious repercussions for both types of player.
(Dependant upon the number of camps booked, times may be flexible)
