KV is geared toward athletes that are interested in acquiring a solid technical foundation. Detailed explanations regarding how to, why, and when to execute skills is provided at every session; it is perhaps the single most important feature of the program. How often have you been at a practice session and heard a coach say something like, "Pass the ball higher" or "Hit the ball harder" or some other instruction that is directly tied to a result? If you hear these phrases, how often are they followed up with instructions from the coach on how to achieve the result? Its good to have goals, like passing with tempo, but its imperative that athletes receive detailed instructions on how-to. As important as it is for the athletes to receive instructions on how-to, its just as important for coaches to realize that there are three types of learners - visual (watching), auditory (listening), and kinesthetic (feeling or doing). When you take the types of learners into consideration and implement instructions that cater to each style, you will see an immediate increase in development. This is what KV does best. Processes and goals are verbally explained, the process is demonstrated, and then athletes are given an opportunity to do it. Feedback is then provided to each athlete on both what they are doing well and what they need to adjust. Aside from providing technical instruction, communication has been and continues to be a staple of KV. All in all it safe to say that in the end, everyone just wants to be informed. Parents want to be communicated with regarding progress, scheduling, and administrative details; while the athletes want to know where they stand... in all areas. Call it a "right to know" policy or "they deserve the truth" policy, whatever you call it, the athletes will know where they stand in regard to their progress, performance, and attitude. All of the messages are conveyed in a manner where the athletes will be able to use the information to move forward. The athletes deserve honesty that is kept positive... they'll receive just that at KV. Have you ever been to a practice where you felt like you could go to sleep? The athletes usually leave these practice environments with an indifference that you'd rather not see. The practice environment is just as critical as good communication and technical instruction that caters to the different learning styles. When you come to a KV session, you'll immediately feel the difference. The sessions have good energy and the athletes tend to leave wanting more. And when the athletes leave wanting more, you know your on the right track. Come experience the difference and let KV be the driving force in your skill development!
